How it works

Here’s what to expect when we take over your existing system

  1. Installation

A full-time, fully licensed technician will connect the wireless transmitter to your system's main control box for a small one-time charge of $89.

  2. Signal Testing

We’ll run a signal strength test, and send test alarms to our 24hr dispatch center to confirm success.

  3. System Codes

Keep the same alarm codes if you'd like, or have new ones setup at no extra cost. We will train you on how to use it.

  4. Payment

Your technician will accept payment for any necessary equipment charges (will have already been discussed and approved by you first).

All Installations Can Be Customized

Setup FAQ

Most of the time it costs little to nothing to update your system. We have a true online quoting system here that can help give you a better idea. Or give us a call, our sales people can usually pinpoint what needs to be done right over the phone. 888-888-1695 Press Option #1

Our technician will collect with check or credit card on-site for any equipment we've sold you, as well as the first billing cycle of monitoring to get your service started. We have two billing cycle options to choose from: quarterly (3 months of service), or you can pay annually and receive 1 free month (pay for 11 and get the 12th free).

There is no contract! Since 1978, we've been able to keep our customers with great service. Should you need to stop service though, all we require is 30 day written notice.

Any equipment Smith Thompson installs comes with a 1 year part and labor warranty. If a repair is needed on equipment originally installed by another company, or if you are outside of the 1 year warranty period, it would cost $59 for the service call, plus any parts needed.

Yes! We have a true online quote system here. Or you can give sales a call during business hours, and the'll be glad to help out. Dial 888-888-1695, press option #1.

Not anymore! All new customers are setup with cellular wireless monitoring. Drop that costly landline phone!

A dispatcher immediately calls you on any number you would like us to call. If we don’t receive an answer, the police or fire department are dispatched to your home. If we do receive an answer we verify your password, and at that point you can decide if you want us to dispatch or not. We never charge for false alarms.

Due to the short term nature of apartments, we do not. We recommend looking into SimpliSafe.

If we are taking over a compatible system about 45 min - 1.5 hours. If we are installing a new system from scratch about 2 hrs.

Yes, most cities and towns have ordinances requiring you to register your alarm with your local police department. Contact your local police department or city hall to obtain your permit application. Once registered, be sure to call and give us your permit number. IMPORTANT: Most police departments will not respond to your alarm without a permit!

We don’t hide behind a contract like other companies. We have to perform 24/7, or else we’re fired!

That’s the way it should work, right?
